What are CPD Training Courses?

With all medical practitioners, to continue to practice in Australia they have to complete a certain amount of hours training their skills in particular fields, this is called continued professional development (CPD).

Our specialist dentist is a lead educator for dentists in Australia who need to complete these training hours. An important part of our training programs includes a hands-on patient component which helps the dentist put what they have learnt over the lectures into practice. This is where the patient aspect is required.

There are fees that will be involved to cover costs of the treatment, however compared to getting treatment done in private practice the fees are significantly reduced due to that fact that you will be participating in a training program.

What are the requirements and considerations?

  • Patients will need to be flexible for appointments as the courses are held throughout the year. It will depend on what treatment you require as to when you will need to be available. They will be set dates and cannot be altered for individual patients. This can be advised once you have had a consultation and treatment plan put together.

  • Please be aware that fees will apply and will need to be paid to assist in covering some of the costs of providing the treatment. Considerably discounted costs though mean substantial savings for you compared with usual private practice fees. At all stages you will be fully informed about the course offerings and your required contributions. A price guideline is attached for your consideration.

  • If you progress through to the next stage, we will offer you an initial complimentary consultation with one of our qualified dentists who will perform a full dental exam which may include x-rays and study models if required. You will also be reviewed by our lead specialist who will use these records to properly diagnose and treatment plan your dental needs. At this point the decision will be made about your suitability for Dental CPD training courses- that is whether your required treatment(s) allow the course dentists/attendees to complete the course learning objectives. Please note that there is a possibility that you may not fit into any of our training categories, which we will discuss with you at the time.

  • All costs will be disclosed to you at your treatment plan consultation along with any consents for procedures. If you have dental conditions that require treatment outside of the courses, you will be offered a reduced fee rate for those procedures to be completed by one of our dentists, as a courtesy for taking part in the course programs. Costs will be discussed for these treatments.

  • The fully qualified lead specialists will complete some of the procedures and the course attendees will complete the components of treatment required by the course. The attending dentists are all registered in Australia and will be supervised by one of our teaching specialists.

  • A comprehensive medical and dental history will need to be completed as well as an initial overview x-ray prior to or during your initial consultation.

  • The decision to proceed with any dental treatment will be made by you.

  • Dental Treatment Cost Guide- All procedures are claimable through private health insurance. We also offer interest free payment plans to cover the fees. Any additional CT scans or OPG x-rays required for surgery will be bulk billed through Medicare.

  • Types of treatments on courses may include dental extractions, bone grafts, dental implants (single implants, implant dentures, and “all on 4 style”), and cosmetic makeover including full mouth rehabilitation (10 crowns or more per jaw).
